Guy Orlando Rose (1867-1925) was a prominent figure in the California School of Impressionism. After formal art training at the California School of Design in San Francisco, he traveled to France. He was the protégée of Claude Monet in Giverny from 1904 to 1912. Rose's impressionistic style blossomed, earning him recognition and accolades, including Gold Medals at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition and the Panama-California Exposition.
